This website is built and maintained by Accesibilidad Primero on behalf of AEIPI. Accessibility is not an afterthought here — it is the starting point. Every component on this site has been designed and coded with WCAG 2.2 AA compliance as a baseline requirement, not an optional feature.

Our Commitment

AEIPI and Accesibilidad Primero are committed to ensuring that this website is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology, ability, or context of use. We believe that an accessible website is simply a better website — for everyone.

This site is built using semantic HTML5, accessible typography, WAI-ARIA where needed, and keyboard-navigable components throughout. Focus indicators are visible on every interactive element.

WCAG 2.2 sets a minimum target size of 24×24 pixels for interactive elements. We work to a stricter internal target of 44×44 pixels, which most of the site already meets; where it does not yet, the exception is listed in section 3.

Conformance Status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard. The issues that remain open are documented below, along with the plan to resolve them.

The site is under active development ahead of the conference. A full conformance review will be carried out before registration opens, and this statement will be updated with the results.

Known Issues

The following issues from the audit of 25 August 2026 remain open. Each one is scheduled for correction before registration opens, and this section is updated at every review — issues are removed from the list only once the fix is live.

Criterion Issue Affected elements Status
WCAG 1.3.5 AA The name and email fields of the contact form do not declare their purpose, so browsers and assistive tools cannot fill them in automatically 2 fields — contact form In progress
WCAG 2.5.8 AA The legal links in the site footer are 16 pixels tall, below the 24-pixel minimum target size — and well below our own 44-pixel target 5 links — site footer In progress

Third-Party Content

This website integrates content from platforms that are outside our direct control. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of these external services, but we have chosen providers that demonstrate a commitment to inclusive design:

Platform Purpose Notes
Weeztix Conference registration and ticketing External No published WCAG conformance statement. Loads via an external domain.
AA Accessible Abstracts Abstract submission and review Separate domain Hosted at abstracts.eciconference2027.com. Submitting an abstract takes you to a different address; the link is signposted before you leave this site.
Google Maps Venue location External Embedded via iframe. The venue address is also given as text on the same page.

If you experience difficulties accessing any of these platforms due to accessibility barriers, please contact us and we will do our best to provide the information you need through an alternative means.

Technologies Used

The accessibility of this website relies on the following technologies:

  • HTML5 — semantic markup for structure and meaning
  • CSS with fluid rem units — never fixed pixel sizes for text
  • JavaScript — used for focus management, modal behaviour, and keyboard navigation
  • WAI-ARIA — roles, states, and properties for assistive technology support
  • Atkinson Hyperlegible Next — a typeface specifically designed for low vision readers

How We Assessed This Site

This statement is based on a self-assessment carried out by Accesibilidad Primero on 25 August 2026, updating an earlier review of 19 June 2026. Automated auditing tools were used to identify technical violations; every finding was then verified by hand in a browser before being included or discarded here.

Two areas have not yet been tested and are therefore not covered by the scores above: keyboard operation of the modal dialogues and the registration fee selector, and the mobile navigation. Both are scheduled for manual review before registration opens.

A full independent audit will be carried out once the site is complete, prior to the conference opening for registrations.

Feedback and Contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you experience any barriers, find content that is difficult to access, or have suggestions for improvement, please get in touch. We take all accessibility feedback seriously and will respond within 5 business days.
